This session will be the first time the World Water Data Initiative has been presented to the international water community. The session will include explanation of the features and purposes of the Initiative by the project leads, and will be supported by a panel discussion on implementation of the Initiative including the roles of international water agencies. The World Water Data Initiative is an outcome of the High Level Panel on Water, consisting of 11 sitting Heads of State and Government and one Special Adviser. The Panel was convened by the United Nations Secretary-General and President of the World Bank Group to provide the leadership required to champion a comprehensive, inclusive and collaborative way of developing and managing water resources, and improving water and sanitation related services.
